Digital University Kerala (DUK)
Established: 2000
Originally established as the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala (IIITM-K), DUK was upgraded to a full-fledged university in 2020.
Located at Technocity, Thiruvananthapuram, the university focuses on advanced research and education in AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data analytics, blockchain, and digital humanities. Through partnerships with leading global institutions and industry leaders, DUK is shaping Kerala’s role in the digital knowledge economy and providing academic leadership for the State’s innovation ecosystem.
International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS)
Established:
ICFOSS is a global hub for the promotion of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and digital freedom. Established by the Government of Kerala, it consolidates the State’s early pioneering work in open-source adoption.
ICFOSS engages in research, policy advocacy, capacity building, and community networking, promoting FOSS solutions across public institutions, education, and private enterprises. The Centre’s initiatives ,including accessibility projects, gender-in-tech programs, and open hardware collaborations ,have positioned Kerala as an international leader in open knowledge and technology democratization.
ICT Academy of Kerala
Established: 2014
ICT Academy is a public–private partnership (PPP) initiative supported by the Government of India, Government of Kerala, and the IT industry. It works to bridge the gap between academia and industry, enhancing the employability of youth.
Through large-scale training programs, industry certifications, and digital skill initiatives, ICT Academy has trained over 100,000 students and professionals. Its focus areas include AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data science, ensuring Kerala’s workforce remains at the cutting edge of global technology trends.
