Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON)
Established: 2000
KFON is one of India’s most ambitious connectivity projects, designed to bridge the digital divide by providing universal, high-speed broadband across Kerala. The network creates a robust core and middle-mile infrastructure accessible to telecom operators, ISPs, and local cable networks, enabling them to deliver last-mile connectivity even in remote areas.
KFON supports over 30,000 government institutions and aims to provide free internet access to below-poverty-line households, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the digital era. It is the foundation upon which Kerala’s digital inclusion and smart governance are built.
